How do we reach the right target audience for us?


One of the significant challenges in the work of digital marketing is the need to reach the right target audience for us. In order for a business to be able to expand its activities and increase the volume of its work, it must reach the customers relevant only to it and the nature of the service or product it provides.


Many digital offices promise their clients massive exposure in the form of many likes and page traffic. Those customers often find themselves disappointed when they realize that there is no match between the rising numbers and the volume of activity that does not change. The point is, that multiple exposures is not necessarily high-quality exposure and those who do not put emphasis on quality will be disappointed.


So how do you do it properly?


First, we must ask ourselves what we actually want to achieve. Advertising in the media has many faces and goals that vary from one business to another: some businesses wish to sell various products via the Internet, others aim to bring a large audience to lectures and some try to increase registration for courses through landing pages, for example. Once we are clear about the purpose of our advertising, the understanding of who our target audience actually is becomes much clearer.


Now, we have to ask ourselves who exactly are the people we want to use our service or buy our product. Beyond the more obvious parameters such as geographic affiliation, age group or gender, we must try and characterize our clientele as much as possible. What is their most significant spiritual lack and how can my product or service fill that lack? If you sell, for example, bicycles, your target audience may be office workers who are tired of paying monthly car expenses or maybe teenagers who really need this means of transportation to feel mature and independent. As we deepen our understanding of our target audience and ask complex questions such as what they do in their free time, these are areas of interest that speak to them and even derive a potential audience from our past customers, we will receive more focused answers that will yield better results.

It is equally important to check who we do not want to sell to. When we characterize our target audience we must understand who within that group is a customer that we do not need to reach and thus maintain an expensive budget.


The simplest example is to exclude vegetarians and vegans when advertising meat products. If we know of a certain geographic area that is flooded with products that we want to promote, we should also remove that from the list. Another option is to adjust advertisements according to different types of target audiences so that repeat customers come across advertisements that are targeted for them to "spread the word" further. The principles for choosing the target audience vary of course and are directly derived from the nature of the product and service. The idea is to always think outside the box and try a large number of variations. In this way, we can control the budget available to us and direct it to the exact places for us.


It must always be remembered that the world of media advertising is based on trial, error, and generating insight. Smart and professional digital marketing knows how to point out at all times which publications worked more and less well as well as the various parameters in each publication and how they served the ultimate goal.
